Mohawk Valley Health Care Center Employees Raise Money for Family of Local Boy Fighting Cancer

Staff, community come together at Driving “Fore” Johnny Golf Tournament

Employees of Mohawk Valley Health Care Center recently hosted a community golf tournament in support of a local boy’s battle with cancer. Johnny Drapalski is the 3-year-old grandson of MVHCC employee Monica Hadsell, both of Ilion, New York.

The Driving “Fore” Johnny Golf Tournament was held Sunday, Aug. 30, at Holland Heights Golf Course, with proceeds going to the Drapalski family for Johnny’s medical expenses. Drapalski is being treated at the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York.

“It means the world to see our staff and our community come together like this,” said Kim Maneen, human resources and payroll coordinator for MVHCC. “We are especially grateful for the local businesses and people who sponsored the tournament and really made this event worthwhile. This is a difficult time for the Drapalski family, and we want them to know that we’re here for them.”

Hadsell, an administrative assistant for MVHCC, was overwhelmed by the support shown to her grandson and family.

“I am not sure how the Hadsell/Drapalski families can thank everyone for what they have done for Johnny, the most precious gift God has given to us,” she said. “Your generous, tremendous outpouring of love from your hearts has been inconceivable. We sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts and will never forget all that has been done.”
